OhMiBod Esca 2 Review

OhMiBod Esca 2 Review, June 2021

Today I am super excited to be reviewing the OhMiBod Esca 2, a little device that is packed full of wonderful features and is made by one of the most wholesome companies I’ve seen in a while.

I occasionally like to talk about the impact that a certain toy has on the market, but in this case, I’d say the company itself deserves a mention.

OhMiBod invented the music-driven dildo and dozens of other products designed for people of all body types.

They are especially focused on sexual health and wellness and is obvious from spending all of 2 minutes on their website, “Each day, we work to shift mainstream attitudes toward self-pleasure and the critical role vibrators play in sexual health and well-being, and we’re proud to say it’s getting results.”

It always makes me happy to see a wholesome company genuinely producing quality products to better people’s lives, not just for profit.

The company story is pretty interesting and I highly suggest a read, and now, onwards to the review. The Esca 2 is in short, a versatile and wearable luxury vibrator. It is Bluetooth enabled for use with an app, letting you or somebody else control the vibrator for you.

They don’t necessarily need to be in the same room as you, they can be halfway across the planet and still control the device. This makes the Esca 2 an amazing choice for any long distance relationships.

The paring is done through the OhMiBod Remote app which is free to download and use, and all that’s left is pairing the device and away you go! That’s not even the best part of it, if your partner is using a Kiiroo device they can interactively drive sensations into your device, essentially sexually connecting the two of you across the globe. Isn’t that amazing?

What’s in the box

The vibrator comes with a USB charging cable and a small satin pouch to store it in.

There is a certificate of authenticity for what it’s worth, but I don’t see myself going around showing my vibrator off.

Multi-lingual instructions come as well but we know what we’re doing right? I would have liked a choice in color or design variation, the standard purple sex toy color is getting a little stale, but that’s hardly a real issue.

Materials

The Esca 2 is made of only purple, body-safe silicone and some ABS plastic parts. Can you tell the purple is bugging me? It measures 7.3” long stretched out and 1.3” in diameter at its widest.

The Esca 2 is so incredibly light I was incredibly surprised by it, the vibrator only weighs 2 oz!

If you're really hoping to find a compact toy that is also packed with power, then you could do much, much worse than the Esca 2.

Details

As mentioned it is Bluetooth compatible up to 26ft range and accessed from anywhere using the app and Wi-Fi.

It is also interactively compatible with certain Kiiroo devices making it perfect for long-distance relationships. The whole vibrator is powered by a 3.7V-220mAH battery that charges in 1.5 hours and lasts up to 3 hours on the lowest setting.

Just in case you are having too much fun and your phone dies on you, you can set the Esca 2 to manual mode and keep on going.

The Esca 2 comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty as well so you can be sure your investment will last.

Care

As previously mentioned the vibrator is mostly made of silicone meaning that you should only be using water-based lubricant with this device. Oil-based lubricants will degrade the finish of the silicone over time and cause the vibrator to develop an uneven and bumpy surface.

If that was the extent of that damage then that’d be fine but these tiny crevices and bumps can hide bacteria and other nasty things, even after cleaning, that can cause some pretty severe and unwanted conditions.

The website says that the device is waterproof but I feel like it is more water-resistant instead. The charging port is exposed on the side and I didn’t really feel comfortable submerging the device underwater to clean it.

Difference Between Esca 1 and Esca 2

In appearance, the Esca 1 and 2 are almost identical and it would be tough to tell them apart. Hidden underneath the familiar exterior though are a whole slew of upgrades.

  • The Esca 2 has more modern versions of Bluetooth allowing for better connectivity with phones. The Esca 1 uses Bluetooth 2.1 as opposed to Esca 2 using Bluetooth 4.1. It may not seem like it but Bluetooth has come a long way in terms of speeds and connection strength. I wouldn’t overlook this upgrade.
  • The motor is slightly more powerful on the Esca 2 allowing for stronger vibrations.
  • The Esca 2 has a battery with twice the capacity of the Esca 1 letting you play around without worrying about the batteries dying.
  • The light at the tail end of the Esca when in use can now be optionally turned off on the Esca 2. This is a nice quality of life change if you want to use this vibrator while being out in public. Previously an accidental light shining through your pants would easily grab somebody’s attention towards your coochie. No longer will your vibrating teledildonic device attract the unwanted attention of strangers, unless of course you cannot handle yourself.

My Experience

So I tried the vibe in two different scenarios so I can get a good idea of its full functionality. Firstly, I tried it out solo so that I could get a good feel for the toy before giving the controls over. Inserting the toy is easy and a little bit of lube will go a long way.

If you are on the smaller side it may be a bit tough to get past the bulb but I don’t see too many having any issues. It is big enough that it feels filling but still requires a little bit of effort on your part to get in the right spot.

This vibrator is designed for g-spot stimulation in particular and I found that it sits in a great position to do that for me.

I used my phone connected using Bluetooth to the OhMiBod Remote App to control my Esca 2. The app turns the volume buttons on the connected phone into +/- controls for vibration intensity.

The app has a whole slew of vibrational settings and you can spend a long time trying them all out. I personally enjoyed the Deep & Steady vibration the most and moved according to how I wanted it to press against me. I found that sitting upright pressed the vibrator into me most effectively.

I especially enjoyed combining sitting upright with the wonderfully named Ludicrous vibration speed setting. It got intense really quick and I had to change to another setting to cool off. I used the Esca 2 with the music feature and I gotta say it was really neat but I prefer the manual control I have. Overall the Esca 2 felt great to use solo however it was a little bit underpowered for my liking. That being said with the size, weight, and discreet purpose of the toy, solo play is not where this toy thrives.

When I handed the controls over to my partner, we decided to go out for a shopping trip. I think just not having the comfort of the controls in my hand made me a little more nervous and I was definitely a lot more aware of the toy than when I was playing solo.

The vibrator felt amazing when I had no idea what was coming. Sure the motor is a little weaker, but that’s for good reason. I could not hear a single sound from the Esca 2 while it was in me except for the ones coming out of my mouth.

The optional light on the tail end of the vibrator is a great quality of life change too. It just makes me feel a lot more confident that nobody will notice anything odd. My partner did have to stay decently close to me as we did lose connection a few times, which is a bit disorienting and a bit of a buzzkill.

Working around those issues though it was a great deal of fun to use in public. I’m confident that nobody had any idea of what was actually going on.

Recommendation

 Pros

  • I found the vibrations to be very strong and satisfying
  • The whole vibrator was unimaginably light, weighing a whole 50g
  • The app was very simple and intuitive to use
  • The interconnectivity with Kiiroo devices and the potential for long-distance interaction is amazing.
  • Many options for controlling the device; manual control, Bluetooth or wifi
  • Extremely silent motor
  • Stealthy and fun to use in public places.

If you are looking for g-spot solo play this toy can be a lot of fun and is definitely worth investing in, however, I feel there are better-suited toys out there for getting the job done.

That being said, if you are playing solo and need to keep it silent due to roommates or thin walls with the neighbors this toy can be a very smart purchase. Heck, you could definitely get away with using it in front of them without them knowing if that’s your thing.

This toy is incredibly fun to use with a partner, I highly suggest investing in one because this thing rocks! It’s so sneaky to use around places and I just get such a thrill out of using it when nobody else has any clue. I have not tried the Kiiroo interactive input system and I can see this toy and the Kiiroo being a lifesaver for those having a tough time keeping it exciting long-distance.

The Esca 2 definitely scores all the points from me for partner play and I can’t recommend it enough. Before you make your decision, which should definitely be to buy it, or browsing to get a quick brief, sneak a peek at the pros and cons of the Esca 2
