Fetish Fantasy Spreader Bar and Handcuff Set Review

Fetish Fantasy Spreader Bar and Handcuff Set Review, June 2021

When I heard Lovehoney were sending me the Fetish Fantasy Spreader Bar and Cuff Set I was delighted. I absolutely love being tied up.

There is no better feeling than knowing you are at the mercy of someone else’s whims and nothing turns me on more than knowing my partner has access to my body and there is nothing I can do about it because he has me restrained.

I guess that it comes as no surprise then, that I had been lusting after a spreader bar for a long time.

The idea of having my legs spread, being unable to close them even if I wanted to, and being exposed like that had my imagination working overtime. I was particularly drawn to the Fetish Fantasy Spreader Bar and Handcuff set because it is a set.

Having two bars to play with meant my partner now had the option of immobilizing my upper and lower body at the same time. This is what makes this Pipedream creation so exciting. I knew it would be versatile and I wasn’t wrong.

Product Information

The spreader bar set arrives packaged in a heavy-duty, plain black, zip bag which is ideal for long-term storage. (The bag reminds me of the canvas bags that you store tents in.) Wrapped around this long, thin bag is some cardboard packaging.

This packaging has a simple design and it isn’t gaudy but there are pictures on both front and back of a model (Airbrushed to within an inch of her life) posing in some very provocative ways with the bars.

I am not usually keen on seeing half-naked women bending over with their mouths hanging open, spattered all over product packaging but this isn’t your standard product and she is clearly there to help you with position ideas, which is cool with me.

Inside the bag you will find:
  • 1 x 24 inch metal spreader bar with 4 O-rings.
  • 1 x 10 inch metal spreader bar with permanently attached strap and 3 O-rings.
  • 1x fabric neck collar.
  • 2x Fabric Wrist cuffs (10.5 inch long.)
  • 2x Fabric Ankle cuffs (11.75 inch long.)
  • 1x Blindfold.

The cuffs and collar are made from a foam material which adds padding and comfort during wear. They are all attached using Velcro, which is surprisingly strong and each cuff, as well as the collar, has a trigger hook attached. This means you can attach each cuff to any loop on the two bars. The cuffs and collar are also advertised as being ” swivel-mounted and this simply means the cuffs will slide around your ankles and wrists because the material glides against your skin. Its that simple.

In Use

Because the Fetish Fantasy spreader bar set contains two different length bars, you have so many more options available for restraining your partner. (Compared to a single spreader bar.) This set allows you to restrain or immobilise the whole body rather than just the legs.

Each cuff (And the collar) has a trigger clip attached, allowing you to detach them from one bar and reattach them to another if you wished. This means you have multiple position options available as well as multiple degrees of restraint. The limits, of course, are your own flexibility and imagination.

We managed to come up with a lot of different restraint options during our first few sessions using this spreader bar set and in each position, I definitely felt exposed as the bars forced my legs to stay reasonably wide open and I could not move easily.

We started with the basics, using the large bar on its own to spread the arms or legs apart and then we moved on to using the full set in more adventurous ways, ways which restricted movement almost completely. The bars can be used down the front or the back of your partners body which means you have many position options.

For example:

  • Doggy position with their hands cuffed to their sides and their legs spread wide.
  • Standing up with their legs spread and their hands cuffed front, back or sides.
  • On their back with their spread legs in the air and their hands cuffed to the leg bar.
  • Star position with arms spread above head and legs spread wide.
  • Crouching with the collar attached to the leg bar
  • Both ankles and wrists being cuffed to the end of the long bar
  • Using the long bar at the knee or elbow joints to ‘lock’ them into a position.

I could go on, there are so many different options and all of them work well as long as your partner is flexible enough. We are not the most flexible people around and I suffer with a chronic pain condition so some positions were not possible for me, but having found a few enjoyable positions myself, even with my medical condition, I am reasonably confident there should be a few options open to suit most people.

We also liked the fact that the Velcro cuffs could be attached and reattached quickly and easily, allowing for fast position changes during use without spoiling the mood with long delays.

Potential Downsides

The long bar is effective at keeping my legs spread but because all of the cuffs swivel, or slide around your skin, (Packaging describes them as “swivel mounted cuffs”.) it meant I could get my legs closer together than I expected too. I could almost close my knees together (About 4/5 inches away) in some positions.

This is normal because bodies just bend that way. My partner still had access and a good view but being a perfectionist, I did feel a little disappointed. We tried using the smaller bar as a thigh spreader which would work perfectly well if the cuffs were bigger but unfortunately they were too short to fit comfortably around my thighs. You can however, use rope or any other means to tie the smaller bar to your partners’ thighs effectively.

Summary

I am over the moon with this spreader bar set and even though we have played with it on a few occasions, I doubt we have exhausted all the positions and restraint possibilities open to us.

It is just so versatile. The only limits are your imagination and flexibility. I found it comfortable, strong, high quality, lightweight, extremely versatile and best of all, it will hold you in place securely.

Depending on what position you get into, it can completely immobilise you and you can struggle as much as you want, you won’t be able to escape. (Well, not unless you purposely try to pick your way out of the Velcro cuffs, which is extremely hard to do one handed.)

It definitely lived up to most of the expectations I had and I felt both exposed and immobile whilst strapped in to this spreader bar set.

It is suitable for both sexes and I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in restraint and bondage, especially if the idea of being exposed is a turn on for you.

If I could change one thing, it would be to add another set of extra large cuffs that could fit around the thighs.

The perfectionist in me would also design it to stop the cuffs from swivelling. I do understand it is for comfort but it also means I can get my legs closer together which I didn’t want to happen.

To be honest though, you can use your imagination, and both bars in conjunction to stop this effect happening and you can use rope through the O-rings to your advantage too.  Other than my nit picking issues, it’s perfect.
