The We-Vibe Tango Has Been Upgraded (Review)

The We-Vibe Tango Has Been Upgraded (Review) June 2021

I was kindly sent the my original We-Vibe Tango review and continue reading below to discover the changes made to the new version and how I felt about them.

If you had asked two years ago for my opinion on bullet vibrators, I would have told you I didn’t like them.

I had tried approximately ten battery operated bullet vibes and although some had pleased me initially (This was back in the day when my clitoris didn’t have such high demands), my need for powerful vibrations was evident and those bullets were left gathering dust in my toy box.

It was about this time last year that I started hearing wonderful things, from other power seekers, about the We-Vibe Tango bullet and despite my reservations and the fact I had all but sworn off bullet vibrators, I finally decided to purchase it and I am so glad I did.

From the moment I first tried the We-Vibe Tango, it became the sex toy against which I compared all other vibrators. (Does it please me as much as the Tango?). It is the only clitoral vibe I go back to time and time again.

As you can see from my We-Vibe Tango (version 1) review, the Tango pleased me so effectively because it manages to combine the three things I need most in a clitoral vibrator; it is extremely powerful, has gloriously deep and rumbling vibrations and provides pin point stimulation.

These 3 features combine in an intensely satisfying way. It is so good that I can orgasm using the first and lowest speed and for me, the Tango is the only vibrator capable of that particular feat.

Changes To The We-Vibe Tango (Differences Compared To The First Edition)

Like all sex toys though, the We-Vibe Tango wasn’t perfect. One of the main niggles noted by myself and other reviewers, was the fact that the magnetic connectors on the Tango and charging cable, were weak and so the slightest knock would cause a break in connection and the toy would stop charging.

Clearly We-vibe listens to their customers, because the first and most notable change to the second edition Tango is that it comes with a redesigned charging connector.

As you can see from my images, the old charging connector was round and this caused it to roll when placed on a flat surface.

That rolling would cause the toy to disconnect from the charging connector.

The new charging connector is rectangular in shape and the two magnetic pins on the base of the Tango protrude more in the new version. These changes ensure a stronger, more secure connection (and for some reason, I find the button to be slightly more reactive too, which is another bonus).

Of course, it is still possible to break the connection with a sharp knock and lifting the charger while the Tango is attached often causes the toy to fall, but there is definitely an improvement here.

The next change made to the second edition Tango, is the size and shape and the toy itself. Although not obvious at first glance, the new Tango is roughly 5mm longer than the old and it has a slightly longer, more oval shaped “slice” along the flat side of the tip.

The changes are not dramatic, but this change worried me. I loved my Tango just as it was and worried it would feel different, or change my experience. Luckily this did not happen. The new version of the We-Vibe Tango feels so similar to the old one during use, that it is extremely difficult to tell them apart.

If anything, the changes made to the size and shape are positive, because a slightly longer bullet gives you more to hold on to, potentially reducing hand or finger cramps. I’d consider this another successful improvement.

The next change to note is that the second edition Tango comes with an additional feature; a low battery indicator. The Tango now has a light in the base, which will blink on and off when the Tango is low on juice and in need of a charge.

For some, I think this new feature will prove useful, but I got little use from it due to one little fact, I can take a while to reach orgasm (between 10 and 30 minutes).

Due to my lengthy masturbation sessions, I had become accustomed to charging my old Tango after each and every session, because lets be fair, it is a very petite toy, with a very petite battery, so although it does last plenty long enough to please me (Somewhere between 40 minutes and an hour), it isn’t the type of toy to last 6 hours on one charge.

I can usually get roughly two sessions (on full power) out of a full charge, but it depends on how long I take to reach orgasm and what mode I am using at the time, so charging it after each session stops me worrying that the vibrator is about to stop.

The issue I have with the low battery indicator is that it causes me to panic mid-session that my Tango is about to stop. I think this new addition may be a benefit to many people, but for me, I just find inconsequential at best, a little distracting at worst.

The final change made to the toy itself, is the choice of colours. The first version Tango’s came in a deep purple and light pink colour and this has been flipped for the new versions. You can purchase the new Tango’s in either a light purple, or a deep fuchsia pink.

Lastly, the packaging design has changed. The old packaging, from what I remember, was a half hexagonal in shape, whereas new packaging has been simplified into the standard rectangular box shape. The new packaging is just as gorgeous as the old and can be used for reasonably long term storage.

Product Information

The new version of the We-Vibe Tango comes with the same powerful, rumbling motor that made the first version so popular.

This motor, like the old, contains 4 continuous speed settings and 4 pattern settings.

The patterns include two pulse modes (fast and slow) a wave pattern and a cha-cha pattern.

Like the old Tango, you still have to cycle through each setting if you accidentally click one too far and miss your favourite mode. This is slightly irritating, but not a major issue.

The Tango is made from 100% body safe ABS plastic, is rechargeable (It takes roughly 90 minutes to charge fully and the manual states a run time of up to two hours.

Because I use it most often on the highest speed, it tends to last me about an hour) and is fully waterproof, so can be enjoyed in the bath or shower (and cleaned easily with some antibacterial soap/spray and hot water).

For peace of mind, the We-Vibe Tango comes with a 1 year warranty and We-Vibe is renowned for being excellent at resolving customer issues.

Summary

The original We-Vibe Tango had some minor irritations, but I still rated it as one of my all-time favourite clitoral vibrators (This tends to vary, depending on my mood, between the We-Vibe Tango and the We-Vibe Touch).

We-vibe essentially took an already fantastic vibrator and fixed the niggles that most people had (The charger and the fact it could die on you mid-session without warning when it ran out of battery), but left intact, the things that made this vibrator amazing to begin with (The motor is still the same and the overall shape, while changed slightly, is still essentially the same).

If you are a power seeker, who enjoys pin point stimulation, the We-Vibe Tango may please you, but I recommend avoiding it if you are particularly sensitive or need a lighter, gentler sensation. This bullet means business and even its lower speeds can feel intense.

Despite my thinking that the original Tango was perfection (I may have overlooked a few niggles due to the amount of orgasms it gave me) I soon discovered that new Tango impressed me slightly more. I never thought I’d find a bullet vibrator better that would impress me more than We-Vibe Tango, but here it is, the Tango version 2.
