Vixen Mustang Royale Dildo Review
Before the Vixen Mustang Royale dildo
arrived, I owned three Vixen dildos. Just three; but I have been a die-hard fan of this brand since the day I tested my first (it was the Vixen Outlaw).
There are so many reasons I love Vixen sex toys, from their use of body safe materials to the level of detail that goes into their designs.
The main reason I love Vixen is because I have a preference for softer, squishier dildos and in this regard, Vixen gets it just right.
You can imagine my joy then when Lovehoney offered to send me the new Vixen Mustang Royale in exchange for an honest review.
Product Information
The Vixen Mustang Royale is an ultra-realistic dildo, designed primarily for strap-on sex. In an attempt to increase the comfort and pleasure of the person wearing the strap-on harness, Vixen gave the Mustang Royale a saddle-shaped base.
Unlike flat base dildos, the saddle will hug your pubic mound, providing a soft, comfortable cushion as you thrust into your partner. The protruding nubs press up against your vulva, stimulating you as you move.
The Mustang Royale is made from 100% platinum grade silicone, which is odourless and virtually non-porous.
You can even sterilise it between uses (use a 10% bleach, 90% water solution and rinse well, or simply place the dildo into a bowl filled with boiling water) making it one of the most body safe materials available.
To give the Mustang Royale a realistic feel, a dual density silicone is used to create it. The base and inner core is made from a firm silicone, which helps the dildo to maintain its shape.
The firm core still has plenty of flexibility and the dildo does bend with relative ease. A thick layer of super-soft silicone sits on top of the firm core, giving the dildo a soft, squishy feel.
The dual density design mimics the feel of a real penis, but it doesn’t match it exactly (I have yet to find a dildo that does). So what are the biggest differences? Well, the silicone creates more drag (friction) than the silky soft glide of real skin.
Also, real penises feel hot to the touch and the Mustang Royale is cold (stating the obvious, I know). Thankfully, it warms up fast after insertion.
To further enhance the realism, the Mustang Royale is given a realistic makeover. The first thing to impress me was the realistic shape. If you look down the length of a real penis, you will notice that the shaft is not completely spherical.
Instead, it has what I can only describe as an oval shape. The penis contains spongy chambers (corpus cavernosum) which bulge slightly when they are filled with blood. The Mustang Royale captures this shape perfectly.
Next I marvelled at the incredible detailing. The Mustang Royale features a raised coronal ridge, a wrinkled foreskin design and light veining on the shaft. The overall result is an incredibly life-like dildo.
Measuring 6.5 inches in insertable length and 5 inches in circumference on average (it varies from 4.5 inches to 5.25 inches, depending on what part of the shaft you measure) The Mustang Royale’s dimensions are also relatively realistic.
It may be in inch or so longer than the average penis, but it still fits neatly into the “average” category. If you are comfortable inserting regular sized sex toys/penises, you shouldn’t have any problem with the Mustang Royale.
Our Experiences With The Vixen Mustang Royale
Strap-on sex (also known as pegging) really turns me on, but I find it difficult to pleasure myself during the act. As the strap-on wearer, I often find that my hands are needed elsewhere, but even when they are not, I struggle to gain access to my vulva (his body, or the harness itself gets in the way).
I was hoping that the Mustang Royale, with its new saddle base, would be the answer I was looking for.
Use As A Standard Dildo
Before strapping it on, I decided to have a solo session with the Mustang Royale. As I already mentioned, this dildo does create more drag than a real penis.
What I failed to mention is that it creates less drag, compared to other silicone dildos. I only required a small blob of lubricant to comfortably insert the Mustang Royale. I rarely had to apply more.
I was initially worried that the raised coronal ridge would grate or pop as I pushed past my internal muscles/pubic bone, but this didn’t happen.
The entire head is made from soft, squishy silicone and it seemed to mould to the inside of my vagina. Even from a cold start, the Mustang Royale felt comfortable to use.
The Mustang Royale has a slight curve to its shaft, which helps to push the tip of the dildo into my g-spot. I usually prefer to use a rigid dildo for g-spot play, as I like to apply a firm, intense pressure.
I couldn’t do this with the Mustang Royale, due to the flexibility of the shaft and the softness of the silicone. I could still achieve squirting orgasms, but I had to work a little harder to get there.
The Mustang Royale might not be my first choice for g-spot stimulation, but it certainly rocked my world in other ways. In my opinion, this dildo excels at providing that ultra-realistic experience.
I mean, it really excels. I have a large dildo collection, but the Mustang Royale is one of the few to take up residence in my favourites drawer. It is second only to its shorter brother, the Vixen Tex.
It is a very close call, but I prefer the Tex because it has a shorter shaft. The Mustang Royale is just a shade too long for me and I can sometimes feel it hitting my cervix. It doesn’t feel too uncomfortable, thanks to the soft, cushiony silicone, but I’d still rather avoid it if I can.
I know that I can insert all of the Tex without issue and this gives me the confidence to thrust as hard and as fast as I like, without worry. Still, second place is really not bad at all.
Use As A Strap-On Dildo
I attached the Mustang Royale to the Tantus Intermediate strap-on harness for some pegging fun.
I would describe my partner as an intermediate when it comes to anal play; he has a preference for shorter dildos and struggles to insert toys that are more than 5 inches in girth/circumference.
The Mustang Royale is sitting close to his limits, yet he managed to take it after a short warm up with a butt plug.
He echoed my thoughts when he mentioned that the Mustang Royale feels less intense than many dildos of the same size.
This is partly down to the softness of the silicone and partly due to the flexibility in the shaft. The Mustang Royale seems to squish and flex with your body. Overall, he really enjoyed the sensations this dildo provided.
Unfortunately, the Vixen Mustang proved to be a little too long for him too, so he also prefers to use the Vixen Tex. There are certain positions however, where a little more reach is helpful (spooning for example) and in these instances, I will use the Mustang Royale.
Does The Saddle Base Work?
The saddle base definitely feels more comfortable than a flat base dildo. Vixen used their softer silicone to create the saddle base and it acts as a soft cushion to thrust against. I really liked that aspect.
Unfortunately though, I couldn’t get the raised nub at the edge of the saddle to hit my clitoris.
I adjusted the strap-on harness until the dildo sat as low as possible on my crotch. Still, the nub only made glancing contact with the very top of my clitoral shaft.
As I thrust into my partner, I could feel the nub pressing and massaging the area. It did feel nice (for the most part) but it was nowhere near stimulating enough to make me climax.
Overall, the base added an extra dimension to our strap-on sex sessions. It provided additional comfort and an extra little tease, but I personally wouldn’t describe it as orgasmic.
Downsides
The saddle base is pleasurable in most positions, but it can become quite irritating if your partner likes to go on top. With his/her full body weight pressing down, the raised nubs press uncomfortably into your pubic mound.
I wouldn’t describe this as painful, but it can be a little distracting. I recommend using a flat base dildo for this position. I guess it goes without saying, but the Mustang Royale will not stand up by itself. I personally wouldn’t recommend it to those who prefer placing their dildos on a flat surface to ride.
Summary
The Mustang Royale is the fourth Vixen dildo to be added to my collection and they all feature highly on my favourites list.
If that doesn’t tell you how I feel about this brand, nothing will. I am blown away by the quality and detail that goes into Vixen sex toys.
The Mustang Royale is an extremely versatile dildo and I would highly recommend it to others. It would best suit those who enjoy strap-on sex and are comfortable taking an average sized dildo.
It would also suite those who are looking for an exceptionally high-quality, ultra-realistic dildo for vaginal and/or anal penetration.
If you don’t like your sex toys to look like real body parts, you might want to give this one a miss.
