Rocks Off 120mm Disco Vibrator Review

Rocks Off 120mm Disco Vibrator Review

I was kindly sent the Rocks-Off 120mm Disco Vibrator from other vibrators since my time with the RO-80.

Unfortunately that little bullet has long since been abandoned to the back of my toy box, as it simply doesn’t rock my world any more, but when Rocks Off told me about their larger, more powerful 120mm bullet vibrators (with different textured sleeves) my curiosity piqued.

I still had my doubts though, because I have become much more discerning (and more spoiled) of late.

Product Information

The Disco is essentially a super large (120mm long) bullet vibrator, inserted into a textured silicone sleeve.

The sleeve can be removed with a little wiggling if you wanted to use the bullet alone.  The Disco measures 6 inches in total length and 4.5 inches in useable length.

The circumference/girth around the largest section is just shy of 5 inches which means that it can be used for both clitoral and internal stimulation.

It takes 2 Triple A (AAA) batteries to operate, is waterproof and comes with 10 different vibration settings.

The first 3 settings are continuous speeds; low, medium and high and the last 7 are pattern modes, including pulses waves and gallops.

Use As A Clitoral Stimulator

My first experience had me thinking I had been sent a faulty Disco Vibrator. I had inserted two new batteries (I always like to test new products at their best) screwed on the cap, pressed the button and nothing happened.

After a few more attempts at re-inserting the batteries and fiddling with the cap, I passed the toy to my partner, because we both know that I have no natural knack for technology, or apparently, screwing on lids because he soon discovered the issue.

The cap needed to be screwed on extremely tightly to make sure all the internal connections were touching before the toy would work.

This may be the case with all of the Disco models or it may just be mine, but I thought it worth mentioning in case you have a similar issue.

Before I got down to the fun part, I wanted to see if the rippled silicone sleeve could be removed from the bullet. After all, two toys in one equals more fun, right?

It turns out the sleeve can be removed, but it does take a little wiggling to get it off.

Strangely, it slips back on much more easily, without the need for lubricant (Which I initially thought I might need to use). I decided to try the Disco as a clitoral vibrator first, and I wanted to find out if the thick silicone sleeve would dull the vibrations.

This happens often when you add a silicone material to a vibrator, but considering that the Disco sleeve is quite chunky, I was surprised to find that the vibration strength did not vary that much with the sleeve on or off. Of course, there is a slight decrease in strength when the sleeve is on, but the dulling is not severe.

The sensations however, provided by the bullet alone is obviously quite a bit different to the sensations provided with the sleeve attached and I soon discovered that my preference was to use the Disco without the sleeve attached for clitoral stimulation because the bullet itself tapers at the tip (Unlike the sleeve) and this provides a much more pin point stimulation.

The vibrations on the RO-120 Disco are certainly more powerful that they are on the smaller RO-80 bullets, which I expected because this is a larger toy, but as soon as I began cycling through the settings, I noticed that the 120mm bullet suffered with the same vibration issue as the RO-80 bullet does.

The first two continuous speeds feel enjoyable because they have a bit of a rumble to them that pleases me, but the third continuous speed setting feels mostly shallow and buzzy.

It seems that at the highest speed, the motor loses that rumbling sensation that the first two settings have and that was a little disappointing because I prefer a deeper rumble to a shallow buzzing.

This means that my favourite setting on the Disco is the medium continuous speed, which is just about powerful enough to bring me to orgasm. It isn’t a guarantee though, like it is with my We-Vibe Touch clitoral vibrator, but the chances are definitely higher with the 120mm bullet in the Disco vibrator, than with the smaller RO-80 or most other, standard sized, battery operated bullets.

Use As An Internal Vibrator

As with clitoral use, the Disco can be used, with or without its silicone sleeve, but when it comes to internal stimulation, I prefer the sleeve to be on, because I really enjoy the fuller sensations provided by the highly textured sleeve. (The smooth, slim bullet can feel a little bland when used internally).

As the ripples move back and forth, they provide a gentle rumbling sensation that can be felt most around the vulva and occasionally, the g-spot. (I have to be highly turned on for that to happen often)

The texture feels amazing when I am already aroused, but I do have to be warmed up a little first, before I can fully enjoy those ripples, otherwise the ribs can feel a little grating against my internal muscles and pubic bone.

The Disco is long enough, chunky enough and textured enough to provide some nice g-spot stimulation too, but it lacks the curved shaft that I prefer with my favourite g-spot toys and so I do have to angle it for more direct g-spot stimulation.  My preferred use for the Disco though, is as an internal stimulator.

I simply use another bullet vibrator against my clitoris at the same time for best results.

Cleaning And Care

Despite the fact that this is a textured toy, the Disco is easy to clean, although you will need to pay particular attention to the base of the sleeve where the Rocks-Off logo is imprinted.

The raised logo and deeper indentations here can trap lubricants and fluids and it requires a soft bristled toothbrush to get into these areas to clean thoroughly.

Luckily, the Rocks-Off silicone is pretty silky and so it does not attract too much dust or lint, but it does come with a storage pouch to keep the Disco completely lint free and clean between uses.

The Disco is waterproof, so long as you ensure the cap is screwed on tightly and this makes cleaning simple.

I use hot water and a mild soap, but you can also use a sex toy cleaner spray if you wish. I recommend sticking to water based lubricants, as silicone based lubricants could damage the surface material on the Disco.

Summary

As a sex toy reviewer, the Disco puts me in an awkward position, because I know I will not reach for this vibrator often myself.

The simple fact is that I am a power queen who prefers deeper, rumbling vibrators and I have a few luxury clitoral vibrators in my collection that already provide those sensations and do so much better than the Disco does. It is unfair of me though, to compare the Disco to expensive, luxury sex toys, some of which are double or triple the price.

The Disco (and all the Rocks-Off toys I have tried so far) are actually among the best in their price range (The Disco retails for roughly £25) and I know that I would have enjoyed the Disco so much more if I had not already been spoiled by the likes of the We-Vibe Touch.

If I had experimented with the Disco when I first started purchasing sex toys, I would not have been disappointed. This vibrator has a decent amount of power (More than most standard sized, battery operated bullets) and lots of variety with 10 different modes to choose from.

Aside from the cap initially giving me some trouble, the toy itself is well made. It feels solid and looks gorgeous. So while I won’t use the Disco vibrator very often. (Having been spoiled by some other vibrators in my collection) it is certainly not a bad vibrator. Trust me, I have experienced bad bullet vibrators

The RO-120 Disco would make a fantastic beginner’s vibrator, especially for those looking to step up from their first battery operated bullet, or cheaper sex toy. The Disco is not “blow your socks off” powerful, like some of the luxury toys are, but it is not weak or wimpy either. It actually hasWe-Vibe Tango instead.
