Pjur Back Door Lubricant Review

Pjur Back Door Lubricant Review

I was kindly sent a bottle of Pjur Back Door, Comfort Anal Glide Lubricant from Sliquid Sassy.

Ingredients

Aqua (Water) Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

This means that Pjur Back door Comfort is paraben free and safe to use with condoms.

It does contain glycerin which is known to have a laxative effect (When used anally) and can also exacerbate yeast infections (When used vaginally) if you are prone to them. It is added to lubes as a sweetener.

The main things I look for in a high quality, water based lube are slickness and longevity and Pjur Back Door lubricant impressed me in both of these areas.

It is normal for water based lubricants to dry up faster than silicone or oil based lubes, but water based lubes have their own advantages.

Firstly they are safe to use with sex toys (Unlike silicone which can potentially damage your silicone sex toys) they are also non staining (Again, unlike silicone)

Written On The Bottle

“Water based lubricant with extra moisture enhancing hyaluronan, designed especially for intensive anal intercourse. Hyaluronan has strong hygroscopic properties and thereby increases the viscosity of the formulation, without sticking, Odourless and neutral in taste. Safe to use with condoms. Not a contraceptive. Suitable for use in the genital area”

My guess is that the special ingredient “Hyaluronan” is responsible for adding the extra longevity to this water based lubricant as it seems to stay slick and wet for ages. Pjur Back Door lubricant even outlasted my beloved Sliquid Sassy. As well as lasting a decent amount of time, Pjur’s Back Door lubricant also feels nice and slick.

The viscosity is similar to a lot of general use, water based lubricants. It is not particularly thick, or gel-like (Which I expected from a “Back door” lube) but when applied to the skin, it adds a thick, silky, slippery buffer, reducing friction and gliding beautifully.

In Use

Pjur Back Door is definitely a heavy duty lubricant, designed to be put to hard work. I found it suitable for all types of sexual play, from masturbation to using it with sex toys but it does stand out as a good anal lube as well as being suitable for use with large, or highly textured sex toys.

When it does start to dry up (It will, water based lubricants always do) it can be reactivated using a few drops of water. This will save you from having to reapply the lubricant so often, saving you money and stopping you getting too slathered in the stuff. Eventually though, you will need to reapply.

I used Pjur Back Door lubricant during an hour long masturbation session on my (male) partner and only had to reapply about 3 times (I used water during the session too) That is really good for a water based lubricant, in my opinion.

One thing I did notice, is that when it begins to dry, it feels thick and slightly tacky on the skin. Especially if you have used a lot, or reapplied a few times.

It doesn’t soak into the skin completely, like my Sassy does, so you do feel a little caked in lube for quite a while before it soaks in. Too long for me, I felt the need to use wet wipes to get rid of that slightly sticky sensation.

There is only one aspect I would change with the design of the bottle, and that would be to add a pump dispenser.

At the moment, it is just a hole in the top of the bottle which means you can end up pouring a little too much lube out, especially if you squeeze the bottle too firmly.

Not only this, but the pressure differences inside the bottle cause the lubricant to start oozing from the hole as soon as you take off the cap. (This only happens for the first few uses, when the bottle is fuller.)

This is annoying. I do prefer the pump dispensing option as it gives you more control.

Summary

Pjur lubricant is a really long lasting, water based lubricant. It feels quite luxurious and gloriously slick for a long time, (Compared to other water based lubes.) and being water based, it is safe to use vaginally, anally, for masturbation and with sex toys too, so it is a perfect all rounder.

It is advertised specifically as an anal lubricant and it stands out as one of the better anal lubricants because it lasts longer than a lot of other water based lubes, and feels very slippery and slick. Definitely a winner.
