Monarch Noir Nipple Clamps Review

Monarch Noir Nipple Clamps Review, June 2021

I was kindly sent a set of Monarch Noir Nipple Clamps from Uberkinky, for an impartial review and although I already own a few sets of tweezer style clamps, I was particularly looking forward to testing the Monarch set, because they were to be my first set of clover clamps.

Product Information

Clover clamps provide a nice step-up in intensity compared to tweezer clamps, because they are designed to grip tighter when they are pulled on. This is what makes the connecting chain so handy.

You can use it to tug or wiggle gently and the person wearing the clamps will notice a jump in sensations.

The Monarch Noir Nipple Clamps are made from a lightweight metal (Seriously, it’s so lightweight that I initially thought they were made out of plastic) and these are attached to a heavier, metal chain which measures 12 inches in length.

The clamps and chain have been painted in a matte black finish, which gives the set a nice ‘dark’ feel. They blend in very well with other BDSM implements and outfits and it certainly makes a nice change from the usual silver.

The paint can be scratched if these clamps are left loose in a drawer with sharp/abrasive objects (It will show silver underneath) so if you want to avoid this, make sure you store them safely. (This set does not come with a storage pouch or any long term storage options).

Despite being lightweight, the clamps and chain have a reasonably solid build quality, which is a good thing, because it allows the user to lightly tug on the chain, or even hang weights from the chain, without risking damaging the clamps or chain.

For those wishing to use weights, I recommend smaller weights with thinner hooks, because the loops in the chain are quite small, with a hole measuring just 0.5cm (0.2 inch) in diameter. If you are new to nipple clamps and are wondering how to use them, or whether this set would suit, check out Uberkinky’s guide; “How To Use Nipple Clamps“.

Our Experience With The Monarch Nipple Clamps

I am no stranger to nipple clamps, or pain for that matter, but this was my first experience with clover clamps and I had heard that they provided a step-up in intensity from the tweezer style clamps we had tried previously.

They are not wrong. I am not sure if this set is just particularly aggressive or if this is normal for clover clamps, but these were the most intense nipple clamps I had ever tried.

So intense that I could only stand wearing them for roughly 30 seconds, during which, I was hissing out every expletive through gritted teeth before caving in and removing them from my tender nipples.

The sensation is very close to a burning, pinching sensation and this seems to rise, the longer the clamps are in place. I found that I could bear them longer when aroused, but they certainly take some working up to.

I have reasonably sensitive nipples and I assumed that my experience was heightened because of this, so later than night I attached them to my partner’s nipples.

Within seconds he was repeating the process I had been through earlier, including removing them after roughly 30 seconds due to the intensity.

We eventually discovered that we could reduce the intensity of the pain, by attaching these nipple clamps around the areola and avoiding the tip of the nipple. Although this lessened the pinching, the pain was still severe enough to draw my full attention to the sensations provided by the clamps and I could not keep them on for more than a few minutes.

I personally believe there are two reasons for this intensity; first of all the spring inside the clamps is quite firm and this produces a mean grip. Secondly, there are a bunch of raised, rubber nodules inside the pincers and these reduce surface area, meaning less of the pad is touching the nipple.

These nodules have been added to create a secure grip and they certainly do help to hold the clamps in place securely when you tug on the chain, but they also heighten the intensity of the squeeze. The nodules actually left imprints on my nipples (and other areas of skin – see my pictures) without even needing to pull on the chain. Ouch!

Summary

This set of nipple clamps is not for the faint of heart. From the moment they are attached you will find it difficult to focus on anything but the sensations in your nipples and for us, they were just a little too intense.

We cannot wear these clamps for full sessions, but they do get implemented often for a short, sharp punishment. These clamps would be more suited towards those who enjoy nipple torture and really want a step-up in intensity from beginner’s products.

They create a high level of pain without the chain being pulled on, or weighed down, so you can imagine how intense the clamps feel when weighted.

The clamps and chain are created from good quality materials and will fit both male and female nipples (as per our experience). I definitely recommend the Monarch Noir nipple clamps, but only to those looking for something quite intense.
