The IMTOY Piu Male Vibrator Review

The IMTOY Piu Male Vibrator Review, June 2021

After having such an amazing experience with the Hot Octopuss Pulse vibrator, my partner and I were looking forward to testing other vibrating sex toys for men.

The IMTOY Piu Vibrator is exactly the sort of toy we had in mind.

Product Information

The IMTOY Piu is designed to stimulate the head of the penis via powerful vibrations. Unlike standard masturbation sleeves (Fleshlight, for example), the Piu doesn’t have a deep, cushioned canal for you to thrust into.

Instead, it comes with a relatively rigid, shallow canal that is completely smooth to the touch. This might not sound particularly pleasurable, but the idea is to insert the tip of your penis and allow the vibrations to stimulate the sensitive nerve endings at the tip of your penis.

Since you don’t have to thrust into the toy, you can lie back and allow it to do all the work for you.

The IMTOY website describes the Piu as “the world’s most luxurious vibrator” and it certainly does give off that impression on first glance.

The packaging is classy and the Piu has a sleek, high-tech feel to it. I was also happy to note that the Piu is made from body safe materials; it has a plastic outer casing and a matte silicone is used to line the inside of the canal.

The Piu comes with all the features you’d expect to find in a high-quality sex toy; it is rechargeable, waterproof and boasts a huge range of vibration settings (30 in total). Inside the box, you will find an instruction manual, a magnetic USB charging cable and a faux leather storage pouch.

The Piu comes with an additional luxury feature; it is Bluetooth compatible (Bluetooth 4.0 or above). This means that you can connect your Piu vibrator via Bluetooth to an app that you download onto your smartphone/device.

The app contains a number of porn clips, which you can purchase with points. The Piu comes with “intelligent movie interaction”, so if you sync it with the app, it will vibrate in relation to the intensity of the action happening on screen.

Please note, the app does not have peer-to-peer capabilities (like the We-Vibe 4 Plus) so your partner cannot remotely operate the toy from the other side of the world. You must be in Bluetooth range for this technology to work.

For those who like to know the dimensions, the Piu measures 7.1 inches in total length and 6 inches in circumference at its widest point. The canal measures 2 inches in diameter at the entrance and 3.5 inches in depth.

Our Experience With The IMTOY Piu Vibrator

Where to begin, where to begin? After our initial inspection, we decided to spend some time familiarising ourselves with the Piu’s functions and controls.

Flicking through the manual, we encountered our first problem. The manual text reads as though it has been crudely translated using a translation app.

There are a number of spelling errors and some of the sentences are structured badly. This isn’t such a big deal, but it does detract from the luxury experience.

Unfortunately, the manual also fails to fully explain how to operate the Piu. We spent the first hour or so trying to sync the toy with the app and master its controls. I later discovered that you can download a much more detailed manual directly from the IMTOY website.

It wasn’t just the lack of information that left us frustrated. One of the biggest complaints I have with the Piu is that it comes with touch sensitive buttons. You are supposed to hold your finger over the buttons to control the vibration settings and turn the motors on and off.

The problem is, the buttons are not very responsive. Approximately 50% of the time, the Piu would fail to react to our button “presses”. On a few occasions, I had to repeatedly hold my finger over the button to get the Piu to respond.

This is quite worrying if you share a house and need to switch the toy off quickly. Other times, I managed to turn the vibrator off during use. You really need to watch where you place your fingers, lest you want to spend the next 30 seconds trying to find your favourite setting again.

The Piu does not come with a memory function, so you have to manually cycle through the settings. This can be frustrating at the best of times, but the sluggish button controls add to the annoyance.

The packaging states that the Piu produces “fellatio-like sensations” but this is obviously not the case (unless your partner can vibrate while giving head). The smooth, firm canal doesn’t feel very stimulating by itself, but this was to be expected.

The main thing he noticed when sliding into the canal was that it tightened towards the end. We soon realised we could increase this sensation by squeezing the top of the casing. There is a soft area of material running along the top of the case which, when pressed, allowed him to apply more pressure to the tip of his penis.

With his penis inserted as far as it would go (3.5 inches deep), he began experimenting with the vibration settings. The manual states that the Piu comes with 30 different vibration settings, but we only counted 11 while using the toy manually (they all feel similar, just with a slight ramp in power as you move up through them).

There may be more when using the app, but you don’t have any control over them. Sadly, only one of the 11 settings is a constant vibration mode (the first one) and it produces an extremely gentle, high-pitched, buzzy sensation. When I asked him to describe the stimulation, he said it felt like “a breeze blowing lightly across his cock”. It was so subtle, he had trouble feeling anything at all.

From this point on, the three motors work together to create pulsing vibration modes. If you prefer constant vibration, this might be a disappointment. As you work your way up through the settings, the Piu’s vibrations grow stronger and deeper.

The rumbly vibration was intense enough to take him to orgasm, but it wasn’t as quick or as efficient as the Pulse Duo vibrator. The Pulse Duo emits a focused vibration via an oscillating plate.

The Piu’s vibration feels a lot more diffuse, surrounding the entire tip of his penis. For some guys, this type of stimulation may be preferable, but my partner prefers the focused vibration provided by the Pulse Duo.

Our Experiences With The Smartphone App

After using the Piu manually, we began to experiment with the smartphone app. It was here that things went downhill fast. In all honesty, it feels like little thought has gone into designing this app.

Not only is it full of spelling errors, but there are no navigation options at all. You can’t select from your favourite category or skip to a certain page. All you can do is scroll endlessly through page after page of porn clips.

As I scrolled through the pages, I noticed a severe lack of diversity. I scrolled through approximately 30 pages of clips and they all appeared to feature Asian actors indulging in heterosexual sex scenes.

As is common with Asian porn, the genitals are pixelated. To top it all off, all of the video text descriptions are written in what I believe to be Chinese.

If you don’t speak the language, you have no idea what the clip is about. You have to take a guess and hope it appeals to you.

The app does come with a search bar, so we tried to use it to search for our favourite porn sites. It was then we realised that the search bar doesn’t work. No matter what we typed into it, it would redirect us to a Chinese version of YouTube. It was very bizarre.

When you initially download the app, you are given 1000 free credits to spend on porn clips. Each clip costs between 250 and 600 credits (possibly more, but we eventually got fed up scrolling through the pages), giving you 2 to 4 free clips to watch. If you want to watch more clips after this, you will have to purchase more credits. Here is a price breakdown:

  • 100 points – $1
  • 1000 point – $10
  • 5000 points – $47.50
  • 10000 – $90.00
  • 50,000 – $400.00

Also frustrating is the lack of confirmation when purchasing clips. Once, while swiping down through the list of porn clips, my finger must have brushed over the “purchase” button for one of the videos.

Immediately, I lost 500 credits and the film began to download. Many apps will provide a pop-up saying, “Are you sure you want to purchase this item?”, but this one does not. Be very careful what part of the screen you touch.

Using the rest of our free credits, we downloaded a couple of clips. It takes approximately ten minutes for each clip to download, but I guess this will vary depending on the length of the clip. I was expecting the video to stream immediately, but this is not the case. You really need to think ahead with this sex toy.

The final nail in the coffin is that the Piu doesn’t sync very well with the action happening on screen. The vibrations often feel gentle during the foreplay scenes and they intensify as the on-screen action heats up, but that’s as far as it goes.

There doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason, it is just a random pulses and waves at varying levels of intensity. Fortunately, you can swipe your phone screen to control the vibration intensity manually.

If you are expecting the Piu to pulse each time the guy on screen thrusts, you will be sorely disappointed. It would be great if the Piu allowed you to record your own vibration pattern, or upload your favourite porn, but these options are not included.

One final note: The porn clips will pause if you get a notification or pop-up on your phone (e.g. if someone texts you). Just another minor frustration to add to the pile.

Summary

My partner and I were pleased with the overall quality and design of the Piu vibrator, but it is the technology that really lets this toy down. In all honesty, it feels as if the technology was rushed out at the last minute.

If I had the opportunity to make changes to the Piu, I would start by getting rid of the touch sensitive buttons (or at least ensure that they respond to every touch).

I would also include a few more constant vibration settings, especially at higher intensity levels. Finally, I would completely overhaul the smartphone app, making it more diverse and user-friendly. At the very least, it needs to be checked for spelling errors and bugs.

After visiting the IMTOY website, I discovered that the Piu retails for $225 (which I believe works out at approximately £145). As it stands right now, I would have been quite disappointed if I had purchased the Piu for that price.

I’m not completely ruling out this product, as I believe it has potential. I will watch this space, hoping that IMTOY release an updated version. For now, we will be sticking with the Pulse Duo.

The IMTOY Piu Vibrator was kindly sent to me free of charge from imtoy.com for an honest review. This does not affect, or sway my opinions of the product and I will always portray my own experiences, good or bad. Affiliate links are not used within this post.
