Bondage Boutique Sex Position Enhancer Seat Review

Bondage Boutique Sex Position Enhancer Seat Review, June 2021

I was kindly sent the Bondage Boutique Sex Position Enhancer Chair from Lovehoney.co.uk for an honest review and “Bondage Boutique is one of Lovehoney’s own brands for BDSM gear.

In my time as a reviewer, I have come across a small number of position enhancers, including wedges, straps, and swings and I have always wondered about them.

See, I suffer from a chronic pain condition that leaves my muscles and joints feeling stiff and sore. My condition has often put me off indulging in certain positions, especially ones that require me to do most of the work, like the cowgirl (Woman on top) position.

This always disappointed me, because we both enjoy this position. I hoped that the Bondage Boutique Chair would be the answer to my problems.

Product Information

The chair was sent flat packed with instructions, but was incredibly easy to put together. My partner assembled the chair by hand (no tools required) in less than 5 minutes, so you could take it apart for storage and erect it quickly when you next need it.

The seat does not contain any frills, so it does look rather basic when complete. As they say though, sometimes it’s the simple things that are best and I couldn’t find anything to complain about.

The bars are padded, for comfort and the frame is reasonably heavy, offering plenty of stability and support.

It comfortably took the weight of my partner, showing it can cope easily with at least 12 stone (76 kilos). One thing you may need to consider though, is the gap beneath the chair (the part where your/your partner’s body will be).

On a solid surface this gap measures 16.5 inches in width (bar to bar) and 13 inches tall (From floor to top frame). This means that people with larger frames might struggle to fit comfortably under the seat. For full measurements, see my image below.

Our Experiences With The Position Enhancer Seat

My partner lay back on the bed and I placed the seat over him before hopping on. I wanted to find out just how well the seat would work on a softer surface, such as a mattress.

Having sex on the floor can be fun, but it’s certainly not something we choose to do often (because carpet burns and joint pain are not that arousing).

Thankfully, this seat has been designed with two long supporting bars instead of four individual legs and this design proved to be more stable than I expected. No matter what position, or angle we tried, I never felt at risk of toppling the seat.

The top of the seat is made up of two wide elastic straps. These straps were wide enough to support my weight over a reasonably broad surface area, so I did not feel any pressure, or ‘digging in’ sensations.

The gap between the straps left my genitals exposed for penetration and other kinds of play from beneath.

When I put my full weight onto the straps, the elastic material stretched, bowing downwards so that my genitals came to rest only centimetres above his body beneath (I imagine this distance will be different for all couples and will be affected by your own body size).

I reached down into the space between the straps and inserted his penis into my vagina (Which was just as easy to do as it was without the chair). Finally I began to move.

What happened next thrilled me. I used my own body weight to push down on the elastic straps, bringing our bodies together. This downwards stretch would create tension in the straps, so when I lifted myself upwards, the straps (wanting to spring back to their natural position) would help to lift my body upwards.

Normally, my thighs would be burning after two minutes bouncing up and down on him, but I guesstimate that the straps were doing roughly 50% of the work for me. I continued to bounce up and down at a reasonably fast pace for 5 to 10 minutes, without even breaking a sweat, let along having to stop due to discomfort.

I was so pleased that I had found a device that could help me enjoy cowgirl position, but absolutely thrilled when I realised I could also use the seat for face sitting.

I simply placed the seat over his head and when sat on the seat, my genitals came to rest just inches from his face. With a pillow under his head, he could comfortably perform oral sex on me. I could hold onto the bars of the seat and completely relax too, knowing that while I did so, I was not squashing his head or suffocating him.

The bars are fantastic for offering support and allowing you to keep your balance, but they have other benefits too. I quickly discovered that I could grip the bars and with help from the elastic straps, move my body up and down without using my legs at all.

I don’t have strong arms and if you asked me to do a push up or a chin up, I’d collapse after attempting the first, but because the elastic straps did a lot of the work for me, it was relatively easy. If my thighs ever did become tired during, I could simply switch to using my arms, sharing the workload even further.

On a soft surface and using my arms to produce a forward and backward movement, instead of up and down, I learned that I could rock the seat back and forth. The bars were able to dig into the mattress, depending on where I placed my body weight and so I could produce a different kind of penetration. Of course, this only worked on a soft surface. The seat will not rock on the floor.

Next we experimented with doggy style. I leaned over the seat and allowed the two elastic straps to take my weight. The seat helped support my midriff, holding me up for as long as needed, but I didn’t find it comfortable. I suffer with IBS and unlike my bum cheeks, I experience pain in my abdomen when pressure is applied.

I am sure this issue will not affect everyone, but it is something to bear in mind if you suffer any abdominal pain. To help relieve the pressure, my partner lifted both my legs off the bed and I was shocked when I realised I could easily wrap them around his back (wheelbarrow position).

Without the chair, I would have to rely on my arms to hold my full body weight in this position, so there is no way I could hold it for more than a few seconds. With the chair supporting my middle and my arms supporting the top of my body, I could easily wrap my legs around him and hold it a lot longer. To help him balance his weight, he could use the bars of the chair to hold on to. It was a completely new experience for the both of us.

Finally we tested the seat on the floor. Having it on a solid surface produced two noticeable differences. Firstly there was a larger space between my body and his (The seat sunk into the softer mattress, reducing the gap), but this did not change the ease and sensation of penetration. Secondly I could not rock the chair back and forth as I had done on the bed.

Using the chair on the floor, I attempted to use it solo. I discovered that to enjoy this properly, I had to use a suction cup dildo and find a surface onto which that dildo would stick. (I used an old glass chopping board). If the dildo is not attached to the surface, it just falls over, or stays inside your body as you lift upwards. Still, with the right tools you can use this chair just as effectively to penetrate yourself when alone.

Summary

I must admit that when the Bondage Boutique chair first arrived, I had doubts as to how effective it would be as a position enhancer. After experiencing just some of the benefits it offered, I couldn’t be more thrilled. Not only did it help make certain positions easier, it also allowed us to get into some new ones that had been out of the question before.

It is fantastic for anyone who wants to ride (either a dildo or a penis) comfortably and without exerting too much effort. Heck, we even put it to good use during a pegging session and for those who enjoy bondage, you can tie or handcuff limbs to the bars. It might look basic, but the Bondage Boutique Position Enhancer Seat is a versatile piece of kit and I would certainly recommend it.

The Bondage Boutique Sex Position Enhancer Chair was kindly sent to me free of charge from lovehoney.co.uk for an honest review. This does not affect, or sway my opinions of the product and I will always portray my own experiences, good or bad. Affiliate links are used within this post.
